 Team  "Kosmogonia"  consists of  midwives, clinical embryologists and gynaecologists specialising in fertility matters-we can help answer questions relating to infertility, assisted reproduction and pregnancy.


 

1. The Embryologists

Giles Palmer is Director of the Assisted Reproduction Unit at Mitera hospital in Athens. (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
He was born in Northamptonshire, England in 1967.
After studying Genetics at Leeds University he joined the IVF Team at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at Hammersmith Hospital under Lord Professor Winston.
After a consultancy position for Iceland's first IVF Unit (University Hospital, Reykjavik) he moved to Greece in 1992.
He is a member of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology), ALPHA (Reproductive biology Scientists) and PEKE (Greek Society of Clinical Embryologists).
His collaboration with St. Sophia's Children's Hospital (Athens University) has led to many publications in Leading Scientific journals concerning many topics including Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis for Cystic Fibrosis and B-thalassaemia.
He is married to Eirini and lives in Kantza, Athens. 

He has been accredited with Senior Embryologist Status by ESHRE.

Afroditi Sialakouma was born and raised in Athens. She Studied Biology at the University of Athens and has worked as a Clinical Embryologist since 2003. She has a MSc in Quality Control Systems.
She is a member of PEKE (Greek Society of Clinical Embryologists), PEB ( The Greek Society of Bioscientists), Alpha (Reproductive biology Scientists) and ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology),

Aggiolina Kouri was born on the island of Kefelonia and attained her first degree in Biology at the University of Crete in Irakleon. She has worked at Mitera Maternity Hospital since 1990 first in the Microbiology Dept. where she founded the Sperm Donor Bank before uniting with the Assisted Reproduction Unit in 2001.
She is a member ALPHA (Reproductive biology Scientists) and PEKE (Greek Society of Clinical Embryologists)

Katerina Mazokopaki was born and raised in Hania, Crete (IVF Clinical Embryologist). She studied Biology at The University Of Ioannina and her university project was on Testing for  toxic materials in an IVF Laboratory perform in the IVF laboratory at Mitera. From 2007 Katerina has been working as a clinical embryologist at Mitera IVF unit.

Dora Botzaki was born in Athens and raised in Livathia in central Greece. She studied Biology at the University of Athens and her final year project was with Mitera IVF on the subject of in vitro maturation of oocytes. She continued her studies with a Masters degree" Reproduction and Development"  at the university of Bristol, UK. 

She is a member of PEKE (Greek Society of Clinical Embryologists), PEB ( The Greek Society of Bioscientists), Alpha (Reproductive biology Scientists) and ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology),

Dimitris Papadopoulos was born in Russia and raised in Gianitsa, Northern Greece. He attended the Aristotle University in Thessalonika studying Biology. Continuing his studies he gained a Masters at Larrissa with a special research interest of  vitrification of oocytes and embryos. He is a Human reproduction Biologist at Mitera IVF from 2009. He is also a member of PEKE (Greek Society of Clinical Embryologists),

Anna Korakaki was born and raised in Athens. She graduated from the department of Biology of Athens Kapodistrian University. During the academic year 2008 -2009, she was trained in the assisted reproduction techniques in Areteio Hospital. In this period, she is a postgraduate student in Reproductive and Regenerative Medicine.

Malamati  Vreka was born in Kozani in 1989. She graduated from Patras’ University, Department of Biology. From March 2011 she is enrolled in the postgraduate course entitled ‘’Reproductive and Regenerative Medicine’’. She has been a trainee embryologist at ‘’ΜΗΤΕΡΑ IVF unit’’ from October 2010

Anastasia Topi was born 1987 and grew up in Chalkida- Greece. She studied at UK with a bachelor’s degree on applied biology at the University of Teesside. She has an MsC in Biotechnology from the University of Bedfordshire. On her final project she had collaboration with the Royal veterinary college working on “The effects of linolenic and linoleic acid on the survival of bovine blastocyst stage embryos after cryopreservation”. She is a member of PEKE (Greek society of clinical embryologists) and ESHRE.
